Yposkesi, gene therapy, Évry

Yposkesi is France’s leading pharmaceutical company
dedicated to the production of gene and cell therapy drugs
for rare diseases. Located at the heart of the Génopôle,
the European cluster dedicated to gene therapy, on a
site of some 13,000 m², the building houses Yposkesi’s
centralized warehouse, the manufacture hosts of bulk
products/drug substances and quality control. Behind
perfectly sealed glass partitions, in a succession of rooms
protected by airlocks and with permanently purified air,
gene therapy treatments are manufactured. The aim here
is not to synthesize chemical molecules, but to produce the
corrective genes and viral vectors that will transport them
to the cells to be treated, in the muscle, the eye, etc. This
involves culturing cells inside bioreactors. These cells produce the corrector gene and viral vector and then the biomedicines are recovered by purification.
