C2N labs, Saclay

Located on the Saclay Plateau, the Centre de Nanosciences et Nanotechnologies (C2N) brings several CNRS research laboratories together under one roof. To leverage this opportunity to foster new cooperation between teams and disciplines, the project brings together, in a single block featuring patios and lit by skylights in its zigzag roof, the “active heart” of the project, its laboratories and white rooms. To the north are the hall, the public areas and the offices, which overlook the rest of the building and command views of the park. Its compact design, complete with patios, offers areas of transparency and gaps that guide the eye. The forecourt at the entrance shows the institution off to great effect.
