Syctom, Romainville

A new page in the story of the Syctom,on the border between Romainville and Bobigny, between land and water. The new project of the Waste Treatment Centre, which is at the heart of current sustainability concerns, displays innovative technologies and is part of a new generation of industrial buildings, efficient and functional but also integrated in their urban context, educational and exemplary in terms of sustainable development: a friendly industry. The project forms a large technological landscape, participating in the revitalization of the city entrance district. Double-sided, it forms a smooth transition with the residents, and reduces the nuisances related to the operation (odor treatment and talus of acoustic protection. On the Seine side, it highlights its port activity. Expressive, reasserting industrial writing through the conservation of its «masts», it becomes a demonstration building of transformation, recycling, circular economy and reuse.
