Sports Centre in Caen

The new Sports Centre, whose curved glass façade is integrated under a large canopy, is located at the entrance to the city of Caen, along the ‘leisure lane’ that today stretches from the Hippodrome to the Zénith opposite the ‘Prairie Etendue’. Its urban design perfectly matches with the surroundings, while allowing new multiple uses to residents. Its forecourt results into a large public space sheltered by a photovoltaic canopy, while the streetball court and the climbing wall ensure the daily access to the area. Highly performing, with independent entrances, its premises are made to suit different layouts (basketball, handball, but also tennis, volleyball, boxing and conventions). Eye-catching, it is at its best during major events: its double-height walkway, lit-up by dynamic lighting, sets the scene for the spectators and the atmosphere in the hall.
