In Annecy, the conversion of part of the historic NTN-SNR industrial site behind the station has freed up a 4-hectare site. The ‘Le Quartier des Hirondelles’ project, led by Cogedim, is being developed in 4 phases and will eventually include 675 homes, shops and a services residence around a square and a 7,000 m2 garden at the heart of the site. The first phase comprises 3 blocks of 187 homes, including 57 social housing units (52% affordable housing, 18% affordable housing and 30% social rental housing). The architecture of the block follows the transition in scale towards the interior of the block. The 2 buildings designed by Groupe-6 assert an aesthetic rationality, a simple and elegant expression of the built form and its construction system. It is emphasised by its horizontal bands, punctuated by intimate loggias. The extensive planting (core areas, terraces, pre-equipped planters acting as filters between dwellings) helps to limit the effects of heat islands.
