The Paul Louis Merlin site is exceptional for its rich environment and landscape, its views of the mountains and its ancient trees. In this majestic setting, the programme includes the construction of 492 homes, 310 for first-time buyers and 182 for social rented housing. The project comprises nine blocks ranging in height from R+3 to R+9. The diversity of building forms and heights, the inverted L-shaped blocks, the division of volumes and the staggered layout create diversity and avoid a block effect. The openings, balconies and loggias make up the layout and architectural style and give rhythm to the façades. The volumetric shapes, carved out of the mass to incorporate the loggias, protect and enliven the façades. This liveliness is further enhanced by the interplay of sloping, interrupted balconies and return balconies in the corners. The combination of this composition evolves according to the orientation and urban form of the buildings. Depending on their layout, the ground floors, entrances, lobbies, communal areas and bicycle storage areas are different to provide diversity for pedestrians.
