La Défense, urban study at the territorial scale

This study is intended to help the EPAD draw up an action plan for improving the business district’s offer of residential and professional spaces and increasing the appeal of its urban and architectural features and its international visibility. The process will entail updating the site’s tremendous ambition as a business district which offers an impressive degree of functional diversity. The district’s future development should be based on several major projects: providing a high degree of accessibility with a high-speed train station and quick connections to Paris’ airports, making the district’s organization clear and easy to understand, structuring the main roads using a sequenced grid, taking a hierarchical approach to public spaces, developing projects on sites which connect the area to neighbouring towns and highlighting the unique qualities of the banks of the Seine.
