The construction of the Sophie Germain Laboratory was an opportunity for INSA, the Institute of Applied Sciences, to make its premises, which feature a range of architectural styles from different periods, more cohesive and clear. Taking inspiration from the La Doua campus, its design, based on the rhythmic repetition of a basic unit—the transom—forms a cohesive whole that erases the functional specificities of the different laboratories and offices inside and offers a striking overall image of great clarity. The material used, stone-effect concrete, reinforces the expressive strength of the design and elegantly highlights INSA’s noble status on the La Doua campus.
