General Hospital, Gordes

Right in the heart of the town of Gordes, this project’s goal was to fit into this exceptional setting, where, over the years, the architecture has found its perfect match with the surroundings and its hilly landscape. This strong will to preserve the authenticity of the site, while enabling the building to meet all its functional requirements, led us to conceive a solid architectural structure.  It is made of horizontal elements, matching the retaining walls’ strata and the hillside’s trails, and vertical elements corresponding to the built volumes’ scale. On the outside, the walls are clad in stone to suit the different streets of the village or, on the inside, in coloured render. An enclosed Provençal garden results into the first space before the entrance hall, which is on the same level as the living areas.
