Euro Mediterranean University, Fès (Morocco)
Between the town and the countryside, the Oued Ljaouahir valley will host the construction of the university, becoming an important axis of cultural development. The project comprises three main functional strips, linked by the large patio that forms the heart of the site, protected by the ‘Grande Ombrière’. Each identified entity is federated into a system of terraces grouped around the large Euro-Mediterranean garden. The layering of the programme makes it possible to take advantage of the views towards the valley, forming a balcony overlooking the city graduated from the urban public space of the forecourt, the shared space of the “Grande Ombrière”, to the domestic space of the “Medina” formed by the dwellings organised around courtyards, small squares and lanes.
