Toulouse III. This district stretches around a large green four-sided plot bordered by remarkable buildings: the Grignard Amphitheater, the 2R1 chemistry laboratory and the Maison de la Recherche et de la Valorisation. The CIRIMAT building, a latter addition to the site, will enhance its architecture by including the proposed extension. Above any other discipline, the design of the building mainly complies with the chemistry experimentation process guidelines. The façades are punctuated by alternating glazing (1.10 m) and mullions (0.60 m) to ensure total flexibility and modularity to the different spaces. The tree-like aeraulic network is spread out here, right at the very center of the buildings. It is their real skeleton, taking over the whole functional system. The structure wraps around it, being as ‘discreet’ as possible. Crystalline glass protects the elegant complex of the wooden structures. The Chemistry – Materials – Processes project embodies the values of René Egger, the original architect of the Campus. These values are confidence in the suitability for use, confidence in the simple balance of masses, a timeless sobriety.
