Cancer and Nuclear Medicine Regional Centre - University Hospital Centre in Poitiers

The Poitiers University Hospital project aims to develop and bring up to date the Cancer Regional Centre located on Milétrie site, where the activity is foreseen as being constantly increasing. The extension to the Cancer Regional Centre will host a new hall and nuclear medicine department on the ground floor, an extension to the existing 70-bed day hospital on floor 1, and a 49-bed full hospitalisation oncology unit on floor 2.

The extension has been designed to preserve cosy landscaped areas. The new building’s architecture really suits the existing ones. The timber-framed facades are clad in gold-coloured lacquered aluminium with a finely chiselled, grid pattern. The windows’ verticality fits this regular pattern, setting a flowing rhythm to the façade. The new Poitiers Cancer Centre’s interiors draw-up their own ecosystem, made of plants, contrasting materials and colours, as well as flow-friendly pathways.  Each space combines functionality, ergonomics and user-friendliness. Designed as living spaces, they use architectural materials such as concrete, metal, glass and wood to bring about warm and cosy environments.
