Caserne de Bonne, Multipurpose Centre, Grenoble

The Bonne barracks are a former military site handed over to the city for the development of a High Environmental Quality urban development zone. The development programme for the former barracks, located between the city centre and the Grands Boulevards, offers new social housing units, a school, green spaces, a cinema and a shopping centre. With this project, we aimed to increase the appeal of Grenoble’s city centre and contribute to its extension while supporting sustainable, responsible urban development. An inward-looking and impenetrable military site will be turned into a new and welcoming neighbourhood open to the city. Groupe-6 created an ensemble of shops, parking facilities, offices and a student residence within the zone, which will serve as a model of urban integration.
