New cardiovascular building, Hôpital Nord, Marseille

The construction of the cardiovascular building of the Hôpital Nord in Marseille will enable to include the cardiology and vascular surgery departments to its premises and to restructure the 1960s Egger building, which will be vacated by these units.

Therefore, the project represents the first milestone of the Hôpital Nord’s major renewal. Bringing together medical consultations, hospitalization and cardiology emergencies, on a surface area of almost 8,000 m2, the architectural project smoothly reproduces the site’s engineering, anticipating its flows’ evolution and allowing for potential extensions.

With its pleasant and plain features, the building is designed to easily adapt to the Mediterranean climate. The project’s simplicity and compactness make pathways easier and cut distances. The facades’ architectural unity and the materials’ consistency emphasize its sobriety, allowing its compliance with the existing buildings.

Warm colours and a welcoming interior visual identity play down the hospital’s experience.
